Varsity Lettering Criteria

The Emerald Ridge Track & Field team is dedicated to providing opportunities for each athlete to succeed athletically. Additionally, we pride ourselves on being valuable teammates and members of our community. Our lettering criteria reflects these commitments, combining athletic achievement, fundraising efforts, and community service.

First year letter

  • FIRST YEAR LETTER

  • Must earn at least one (1) community service hour

    o   Up to eight (8) total toward your letter

  • Must earn at least one (1) fundraising credit (5K entry)

    o   Up to eight (8) total toward your letter

  • Must be in good academic standing, great attendance, and all letter awards are given at coach's discretion.

     

  • 10 points total required to earn a first-year varsity letter (or post-season qualifier and met criteria above)

o   You earn one point for each community service hour at a designated event (concessions, Run 4 Her Heart 5k, junior high clinics, our two invitationals that we are hosting).

o   You earn one point for every entry sold for the Run 4 Her Heart 5k (or donations per $20) in your name.

o   You earn points by scoring during a track meet. Depending on the meet, points are accumulated based on places within a race. In a standard dual meet, points are awarded to the top three finishers (1st = 5pts, 2nd = 3pts, 3rd = 1pt), and to the top 8 individuals at most invitationals. Relay points are divided up between the four athletes participating.

Second, third, and fourth year letter

Second Year: 

  • Must earn at least two (2) community service hour

  • Must earn at least two (2) fundraising credit (5K entry)

    • Up to ten (10) total toward your letter between community service and 5k entries sold.

  • Must be in good academic standing, great attendance, and all letter awards are given at coach's discretion.

  • 12 Points Required to Letter (or post-season qualifier and met criteria above)

 Third Year:

  • Must earn at least two (2) community service hour

  • Must earn at least two (2) fundraising credit (5K entry)

    • Up to twelve (12) total toward your letter between community service and 5k entries sold.

  • Must be in good academic standing, great attendance, and all letter awards are given at coach's discretion.

  • 16 Points Required to Letter (or post-season qualifier and met criteria above)

 Fourth Year:

  • Must earn at least two (2) community service hour

  • Must earn at least two (2) fundraising credit (5K entry)

    • Up to twelve (12) total toward your letter between community service and 5k entries sold.

  • Must be in good academic standing, great attendance, and all letter awards are given at coach's discretion.

  • 18 Points Required to Letter (or post-season qualifier and met criteria above)
